Keep Pressing On

      Highlight-
2 Timothy 4:2-5; Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage — with great patience and careful instruction. For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

     Explain-
Others in this world will fall away from God but stand your ground. Keep on doing what you know God has called you to do.

     Apply-
This was encouraging for me to hear. Yesterday I spent more than an hour in tears, for I was grieving for my friends. Most all of my closest friends are straying away from God. They are making choices that are destroying their lives, and they are rejecting me in the process. They tell me they love me, and then bash me in the face. I know we are not all called to do the same thing, but they are going taking paths that are not healthy at all. That surely is not their calling. I feel so helpless. All I can do is pray and trust God to take care of it. I'm not the kind of girl that likes to do that. I like to be in the action. I like to feel the power of accomplishing things myself. But here I am, forced to be humble and beg God to save my friends' lives.

     Respond-
                    Dear Jesus,
Please guide my friends. They are falling away from you and they need you back. They still want to have relationships with you; but frankly, they do not know how nor do they wish to put in any effort. Help them. Help me be a kind, loving friend. Encouraging. Give me wisdom to know how to talk to them, what to say. Give them mentors in their lives who will speak truth and life into them. Give them more friends than just me to lift them up and encourage them to move back onto the right path. I cannot do this alone, God. I need your help. Please help me.
